JULY

29 — The inaugural Eye Run in the Sun, a 5K Race for Vision. The race begins and ends at Austintown Township Park, 6000 Kirk Road. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. The event is sponsored by Second Sole and all proceeds will benefit the local efforts of Sight for All United, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, whose mission is to provide eye care services to all individuals regardless of their ability to pay. The race is a 5K on a certified loop through the Austintown Park area. In addition, a Peachick Run/Walk for children 12 years or younger will begin at 9 a.m. The 5K race begins at 9:30 a.m. with 12 Peacock & Peahen age groups. Prizes will be given to the top three men and women in each age group. Advance registration fee: $2 for Peachick and $20 for 5K at www.secondsoleohio.com. The first 200 entries will receive a free “Proud as a Peacock” T-shirt. Race-day registration is $22 and additional t-shirts may be purchased for $8. AUGUST

1 — 20th annual Clipper Cross Country Series begins, with other races on Aug. 8, Aug. 15 and Aug. 22 at Columbiana High School. They are open to all ages. Distance alternates between 3K and 5K course each week. Registration begins at 6 p.m. Start time is 7 p.m. There is a $6 entry fee each week. 11 — 2nd annual Run With A Mission 5K at New Life Church 2250 E. Western Reserve Rd. Poland OH 44514. Race day registrations start at 7:30 a.m. There will also be a 1 mile fun walk amd a kids fun race. The kids race starts at 8:45 a.m. with the 5K and 1 mile walk beginning at 9 a.m. For more information call 330-787-2516.

23 — Lordstown Apple Cider Festival 5K Race/Walk begins at 10 a.m. Advance registration is $17. Race-day registration is $20. Checks payable to Lordstown Athletic Department, 1824 Salt Springs Rd., Warren, Ohio 44481. Check-in at Lordstown Schools Track/Soccer Complex at the intersection of Route 45 and Salt Springs Road, in Lordstown. T-shirts guaranteed for all runners. Water stops, mile timers, refreshments, door prizes and local vendors will be on site.
