GOLF CALENDAR Upcoming scrambles & outings


JULY

21 — The annual Mahoning County Public Special Olympics four-man scramble at Knoll Run Golf Course. Shotgun start at 8 a.m. Outing includes food and refreshments throughout the day, cash prizes for top teams, hole-in-one prizes, goodie/gift bags, hot dogs and chips at the turn and catered lunch after outing.

21 — 13th annual Sunshine Benefit Golf Outing and Steak Dinner at Lakeside Golf Course. Registration begins at 7 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. There is a $225 fee per team. This fee includes: greens fees, cart, continental breakfast, drinks and lunch at the turn and a steak dinner with all the trimmings. The steak dinner will be held at Magilla’s Bar and Grill, beginning at 2:30 p.m. and includes a “made to order” steak, corn on the cob, baked potato and much more. (Those not interested in golfing are welcome to purchase tickets for the steak dinner which are available for $30 each or two for $50.) Prizes will be awarded for the hole events, the 50/50 drawing and an auction at the dinner. Call 330-716-0756 for more information.

25 — Independent Insurance Agents of Mahoning County Junior Golf Classic at Mill Creek Golf Course. Tournament is open to anyone younger than 19 on July 25. Brackets are 14-and-older playing 18 holes and 13-and-younger playing nine holes. Rainbow International Restoration is the sponsor covering golf fees. 28 — Fourth annual Warren Sports Hall of Fame Golf Scramble at Riverview Golf Club. Shotgun start at 8 a.m. Cost is $280 per team ($70 per player). Dinner only costs $25. Fees includes greens fees, coffee, donuts, lunch at the turn, dinner and cash prizes for the top three teams. Deadline for entries is July 15. 30 — Valley Christian Golf Outing at Avalon Golf & Country Club. Shotgun start at 9 a.m. Cost is $100 per person and includes greens fees, cart, continental breakfast, hot dog at the turn, steak luncheon and beverages throughout the day. 4 — 10th annual Canfield Wrestling Golf Scramble at Mill Creek South Course. Lunch at noon and a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Cost is $80 per golfer and includes golf, cart, lunch, dinner and beverages. 5 — 28th Annual Lowellville High School 4-Person Golf Scramble with an 8 a.m. shotgun start at Bedford Trails Golf Course. Cost is $75 per golfer and $300 per team. 17 — 20th annual Ankle & Foot Care Centers Diabetes Golf Benefit, a four-person scramble at Pine Lakes Golf Club. The tournament raises money for the Diabetes Partnership of Mahoning Valley. The event has been sponsored by Ankle & Foot Care Centers since 1999 and has raised more than $165,000 for services and education for diabetes patients. Registration at 9:30 a.m. and a shotgun start at 10:30 a.m. The fee of $100 per golfer includes golf, lunch and dinner, beverages on the course and skill contests. Lunch will be served on the course with dinner at the pavilion immediately following the event. Registration deadline is August 8. Hole and corporate sponsorships are available. 25 — 24th annual Girard Lions Golf Outing at Mahoning Country Club. Cost is $70 per four man scramble. Cost includes 18 holes and cart, a steak dinner, beer and soft drinks all day, hot dogs and chips at the turn, donuts and coffee. 26 — Seventh annual Fitch 76 & Friends golf outing at Lakeside Golf Course Lake Milton. Shotgun scramble at 9 a.m. Cost is $70 per person. Skill prizes and hole-in-one contest. Dinner catered by Barry Dyngles. Auction donations are being accepted. Hole sponsorships available for $50. All proceeds benefit Austintown families or Fitch alumni. 26 — The Austintown Optimist Club Family Golf Scramble at Bedford Trails Golf Course. Shotgun start at 3 p.m. The nine-hole event is for two two-person teams of one adult and one player 17-and-under. The fee is $50 per team and includes golf, cart. non-alcoholic beverages, a hot dog and hamburger picnic afterward and trophies for the top three teams. Hole sponsorships are available at $50 per hole, three holes for $100 or seven holes for $200. SEPTEMBER

1 — Eighth annual Ron Meiss Jr. Memorial Scramble at Deer Creek Golf Course. The four-person scramble has an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. ‚ãA graduate of Hermitage High, Meiss Jr. was a teacher in Farrell Schools.
