Vaniks mark 50th anniversary at dinner party

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Vanik of Youngstown were the guests of honor recently at a dinner party at TJ’s in Boardman in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.

The couple also celebrated the occasion in the spring on a criuse to the ABC Islands in the Southern Caribbean.

The dinner was hosted by the couple’s children, Jeff Vanik of Columbus and Brian (Brian) Vanik of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Two grandchildren, Montgomery and Warner Vanik, complete their family.

The former Joann M. Hayek and Mr. Vanik were married May 4, 1968, at St. Maron Church in Youngstown.

She worked for State Farm Insurance and retired in 2015.

Mr. Vanik was employed at Parker-Hannifin (formerly Commercial Intertech) for 41 years before retiring in 2005.

The couple renewed their vows June 3 at St. Columba Cathedral and belong to St. Paul the Apostle Church in New Middletown.
