“Blow the Whistle, Change the World” (8 p.m., CBS): It’s the premiere of this series that looks into the stories of heroic people who put everything on the line in order to expose illegal and often dangerous wrongdoing by corporations. In tonight’s episode, two dentists are alarmed by the unsafe and fraudulent practices that they say were standard at a pediatric dental chain that provides services in underserved communities. Fearing that it would lead to overtreatment, overbilling and putting children at risk, they decide to take matters into their own hands.

Historic craft to stop at air show

CLEVELAND

The 2018 Cleveland National Air Show, which takes place Sept. 1-3 at Burke Lakefront Airport, will feature a World War II C-47 Skytrain nicknamed “Placid Lassie.”

The historic Douglas C-47 Skytrain troop transport aircraft participated in the D-Day invasion of Europe, operation Market Garden in Holland, supplied Patton’s 3rd Army and dropped desperately needed supplies to troops in the Battle of the Bulge. It was also hit by enemy fire.

“Placid Lassie” was delivered to the U.S. Army Air Corps in early 1943, assigned to the 74th squadron of the 434th Troop Carrying Group in England to prepare for D-Day. The C-47s, also known as Dakotas, towed massive cargo gliders and dropped more than 24,000 paratroopers on the morning of June 6, 1944 (D-Day). Lassie and her crew flew several missions on that fateful morning, first towing gliders and later carrying paratroopers.

Headlining this year’s show is the U.S. Navy Blue Angels.

They will be joined by the U.S. Air Force F-16 Viper Jet Demonstration, U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team and more. Inside the gates spectators will experience the 300 mph Shockwave Jet Truck and pyrotechnics with a Wall of Fire.
