On June 2 at the Boardman Government Building, located at 8299 Market Street, The Mahoning Valley Chapter continued its “Honor Your Patriot” recruitment effort for the second year.
The annual event celebrates Boardman, past and future. This family friendly event includes food, slides, a petting zoo, fire fighters, police officers, SWAT vehicles and more.
This year’s helicopter visit was canceled due to the weather, but the fire department’s largest ladder truck extended to full capacity and a challenge was issued. The administrator invited the assembly to have Fire Chief Mark Pitzer climb to the top to raise funds for the memorial they are constructing at the new fire house. He raised $100 going up and another $100 coming down.
The Memorial will honor police, fire and emergency personnel.
