Valley railroad group to host open house

The Mahoning Valley Railroad Heritage Association, 1340 Poland Ave., will host an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The MVRHA has railroad engines, railroad cars and cabooses on display. There also is a collection of steel mill-related railroad equipment, including a ladle car and mould car. Admission is free. The museum will be open the second Saturday of each month through September during the 2018 season. As a special event this year, the MVRHA is announcing the “Bring Them Home” campaign to move the last two Youngstown Sheet and Tube hot metal cars and a slag car to the museum site. These historic cars are on a storage track a few miles from the museum and will be moved before the end of the year. Donations will be accepted for this campaign. ACTION breakfast event

The ACTION Clergy Breakfast will take place at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave. The topic will be “Conversation on Creating a Culture of Calling.” Pastor Gayle Cantinella will be the facilitator. Reservations are due by Sunday at taulen@aol.com.
Winds at the Winery

The Canfield Community Concert Band will host the third annual Winds at the Winery from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday at Mastropietro Winery, 14558 Ellsworth Road. There will be entertainment by The Gem City Brass, Austintown Fitch Alumni Jazz Band, Canfield Community Band and more.
All attendees are asked to take lawn chairs. Concessions will be available for purchase, and there will be a 50-50 raffle, raffle prizes and door prizes.
