Searchers find body of missing Pulaski man

PULASKI, PA.

During a search party, family members of a missing Pulaski Township man found his body near the Edgewood Longterm Structured Residence where he lived. Vincent Huntley, 55, was last seen walking away from a home in the 5900 block of Old Pulaski Road in New Wilmington on Jan. 19, reported 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner.

Police investigating Huntley’s death called the coroner’s office but are not saying whether Huntley met with foul play or succumbed to the cold weather. The family wants the state to investigate what took place and wants the facility to be closed.

2 injured in blast

JACKSON TOWNSHIP

Exploding acetylene tanks in a vehicle shortly after 8 a.m. Sunday along Pritchard-Ohltown Road between Duck Creek and Bailey Road injured two people and burned a house and a car, reported 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner.

Fire departments from Lordstown and Milton Township helped battle the blaze, which spread to a garage and home, it was reported. The home was a total loss, according to officials.

The two people injured were taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital with injuries authorities say are not life-threatening. The state fire marshal has been notified.

Several fire departments helped Jackson Township fire crews combat a house fire on Kirk Road on Sunday afternoon.

Officials said the fire started in a second-floor bedroom. The cause is unknown; and no injuries occurred. The cause of the fire is under investigation, reported 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner.

Firefighters from Milton, Ellsworth, Austintown townships and Craig Beach assisted Jackson Township in extinguishing the blaze.

Nutrition in the Valley

YWCA Youngstown will explore nutrition needs and the availability of meal sources in the Mahoning Valley at a public meeting and panel discussion from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. March 1 at the YWCA, 25 W. Rayen Ave.

Included will be information on the importance of nutrition, a panel discussion on the challenges local service providers face in procuring quality food and brainstorming solutions for what a better catering service program might look like.

Arrest made after shots fired in Warren

WARREN

Warren police have a suspect in custody in connection with shots fired around 3:30 a.m. Sunday in the 3000 block of Lodwick Drive NW near the Riverview Apartments, reported 21 WFMJ-21, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner.

Authorities said police recovered an assault rifle and several shell casings at the scene. No injuries were reported.

Closed for training

The Mahoning County Veterans Service Commission, Oakhill Renaissance Place, 345 Oak Hill Ave., Suite 100, will be closed Feb. 9 for training purposes.

Occupied Warren exhibit set June 8-9

WARREN

A June 8-9 art exhibit in Warren’s Garden District called Occupied Warren will showcase the work of local artists while stimulating a conversation about the journey from blight to revitalization for cities such as Warren.

It will be run by the Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership and the Fine Arts Council of Trumbull County.

The exhibit will occupy a vacant, blighted house in Warren. The works will explore the themes of blight, abandonment, vacancy and revitalization.

Artists will be encouraged to use salvaged or found materials and the abandoned home as part of their submissions.
