AUSTINTOWN

Austintown Intermediate will participate in World Read Aloud Day on Thursday. Teachers will read aloud to students and participate in activities that involve reading aloud. Parents and staff members have been invited to take a favorite book and join in.

Studies show that literacy is the foundation for emotional and physical well-being, intellectual growth, and economic security. Reading aloud improves listening skills, vocabulary acquisition and the understanding of common story themes and structures that will factor into children’s future success. This movement began to raise awareness for the 750 million people who lack basic reading and writing skills.
