Man in critical condition after suffering grease burns in fight

YOUNGSTOWN — Reports said a man is in critical condition in the burn unit at Akron Childrens Hospital after he was beaten Sunday by his girlfriend and burned with hot grease police said she threw on him.

Officers were called about 7:50 p.m. to a 110 E. Wood St. apartment where the man told them he was in a heated argument with his girlfriend, Rene Allgood, 59, of West Warren Avenue, over allegations of his cheating.

Reports said the victim called Allgood a name and she hit him in the face with a frying pan, threw food she was cooking at him and threw the grease in the pan on him, which burned his neck.

She said he lunged at her, reports said. Reports said there was food strewn throughout the apartment.

Allgood was arrested on a charge of felonious assault and booked into the Mahoning County jail.

People of all ages suffering serious burns are treated at the ACH burn center.
