Man cited for being drunk, possessing guns; later he demands them back

YOUNGSTOWN — Reports said a Manhattan Avenue man cited early Sunday morning after being found drunk and carrying guns on Interstate 680 came back to the police department while he was still drunk and tried to get his guns back.

Reports said officers spotted Kenneth McGuire III walking about 1:10 a.m. in the southbound lanes near the Glenwood Avenue exit carrying a red bag.

Officers went to talk to him and he sat on a guardrail, reports said. He said his vehicle broke down but there were no vehicles in sight on the side of the road, reports said.

Reports said he smelled heavily of alcohol. Reports said officers found a conceal carry permit on him and he admitted he had two guns.

Police searched him and found a loaded 9mm handgun and a loaded .380-caliber handgun, a spare magazine of ammunition and a bag of marijuana.

McGuire was issued citations for having weapons while intoxicated and possession of marijuana and was upset when police took the guns for evidence, reports said.

Reports said his girlfriend was called to pick him up and he was still complaining. A couple of hours later reports said he showed up at the police station still apparently intoxicated and wanted his guns back.

He left after being warned he would be arrested if he did not leave.
