Ryan nominates 11 area students to military academies

U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Howland, D-13th, announced Saturday that 11 local students have been nominated to attend national military academies.

Each year, Ryan nominates some of the best and brightest students from the 13th District to the U.S. military academies.

The 11 recommended have excelled both academically and personally as leaders in their communities.

“These academies serve to develop our young people into leaders not only for our military, but also in our community,” Ryan said.

Each nominee completed an application and interviewed with the 13th District Nomination Committee, and the group was honored at a ceremony with Ryan on Saturday at the Trumbull County Veterans Service Commission in Warren.

The nominees, their schools, parents and academy to which they are nominated are:

Callen Aulizia, Boardman High School , son of Daniel and Jennifer Aulizia, Naval Academy.

Dominic Carone, Streetsboro High, son of Tony and Beth Carone, West Point.

Marissa Davis, Valley Christian High and U.S. Military Academy Preparatory School, daughter of Cicero Davis and Melanie Freeman-Cooper, West Point.

Samuel Madden, Theodore Roosevelt High, son of James and Leslie Madden, West Point.

Hayden Maderitz, Girard High, son of Kendell Stauffer and Marla Maderitz, West Point.

Jordan Mason, Warren G. Harding High, son of Donald and Pamela Mason, Air Force Academy.

Noah Monahan, Champion High and Trumbull Career & Technical Center, son of Timothy Monahan and Kimberly Orr, Air Force Academy.

Ian Murphy, Ursuline High, son of Stephen and Leslie Murphy, West Point.

Sarah Ryser, Girard High, daughter of William and Tracey Ryser, Naval Academy.

Thomas Searle, Firestone Community Learning Center, son of Robert and Carrie Searle, Naval Academy.

John Subick, Ellet High and Stark State College, son of Michael and Lisa Subick,Air Force Academy.
