AUSTINTOWN

It’s time for some sweet treats and tunes Saturday at Austintown Middle School.

Jazz bands from Fitch and AMS and The Fitch Alumni Jazz Band will perform in Jazz & Dessert from 6 to 9 p.m.

In addition to the music, desserts from area businesses will be served.

Tickets are $5, and will benefit the school’s bands.

Mooney gets $1K grant

YOUNGSTOWN

Cardinal Mooney High, 2545 Erie St., has received a $1,000 grant from the Wal-Mart Community Grants Team and Facility in Austintown.

The grant’s purpose is to provide for neighborhood revitalization programming.

This spring, Cardinal Mooney plans to use the funds to improve the ecological and cosmetic appearance of their Flint Hill neighborhood.

Donation to parks

CHAMPION

The June 10, 2017, World Of Wildlife Bicycle Tour had 415 registrants, the third-highest number during its 13 years, and enabled its sponsors to donate $9,500 to Trumbull County MetroParks.

The donation will be used to help with the cost of constructing the final Trumbull County phase of the Western Reserve Greenway hike and bike trail. The phase is between Warren and Niles.

WOW 2017 sponsors were Trumbull County MetroParks, Trumbull County Combined Health District, Kent State University Trumbull and Western Reserve Land Conservancy.

Since the first WOW Ride in 2005, more than $87,000 has been raised to benefit the hike and bike trail.

Warren man stabbed

WARREN

A city man, 41, suffered an apparent minor injury when he was stabbed in the leg by an unidentified male outside a home in the 500 block of Highland Avenue Southwest at 1 a.m. Thursday.

The victim was taken to the Trumbull Regional Medical Center for treatment.

No further information was provided in a police report.

Home-invasion robbery

WARREN

A woman, 29, of the 300 block of Charles Avenue Southeast was tied up and robbed in a home-invasion robbery late Wednesday.

The woman said three armed males forced their way into her house at 11:30 p.m., told her to get on the floor, bound her arms and feet, then went through an upstairs bedroom.

They left the home carrying a box, she said. She reported the thieves took cash, a watch and jewelry.
