The Campmasters of local Boy Scout Camp Stambaugh of the Great Trail Council Boy Scouts of America hosted a Breakfast with Santa on Dec. 16.

The event was planned to give children in the community an opportunity to have breakfast with Santa in a camp setting and enjoy a morning at camp. Attendees enjoyed a pancake breakfast, including sausage, quiche, fruit cups, coffee, hot chocolate and milk. Parents could take pictures of their children with Santa and the children received a gift.

According to Chief Campmaster Brad Lang, the proceeds from the breakfast will go back to the camp.

“We will use the money raised here this morning to make improvements to the camp and scouting program. The money will go right back to the camp to be used in many ways. We want to keep the camp up so the kids keep coming back,” Lang said.

The breakfast had more than 200 people registered to attend.

“This is the first year we have held a Breakfast with Santa and we had over 200 registrants. We are very happy with how many people wanted to come to Camp Stambaugh to have breakfast with Santa. We are always open to new members of the Great Trail Council. People can visit gtcbsa.org for membership information,” Lang said.

Several volunteers helped with all aspects of the event.

“We are volunteers so we don’t get paid. But, to us, our payment is to see how happy the kids are here this morning meeting Santa and eating breakfast. It’s a great program and we hope to do many more,” said volunteer Teresa Prentiss.
