INDOOR GARDENING SESSIONS

When: Tuesdays Feb. 27, March 20, April 17 and 24, 5:30–8:30 p.m.

What: The winter course – Indoor Gardening – gives the home gardener the knowledge and skill to select plants and to successfully cultivate your home landscape.

Hand Feed a Chickadee

When: Saturday, 9-11 a.m.

What: Black-capped chickadees are inquisitive birds that can be coaxed into landing on your hand – especially if you tempt them with food. We’ll provide the birdseed if you provide the hands.

Book Discussion

When: Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to noon.

What: “Boundary Waters: The Grace of the Wild.” In this work, vivid descriptions of the Boundary Waters region are interspersed with the author’s observations on the relationship of humans to wilderness. Read and enjoy the essays, then join our discussion to share your thoughts about the book.

Father/Daughter Game Night

When: Saturday, 5-7 p.m.

What: Girls and their favorite “father figure” are invited to enjoy a roaring fire, a fun evening of board games, hot chocolate and snacks.

Where: Pioneer Pavilion, 876 Old Furnace Road, Youngstown.

Cost: $3 for Mahoning County residents, $5 NR.

Details: Every girl must have a “father figure” present. Register/pay at Ford Nature Center by today.

Jr. OCVN Training

When: Monday, Feb. 12, Feb. 26, March 5 and March 19, 6:30-8:30 p.m. and March 31, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

What: The Junior Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist program will expose students to relevant natural resource skills and knowledge through training, monthly meetings and volunteer opportunities through OSU Extension and Mill Creek MetroParks.

Where: Various Metroparks locations

Eligibility: Ninth grade and up.
