Woman arrested on West Side on drug charges

YOUNGSTOWN — Reports said officers who had to kick in a bathroom door Monday afternoon on the West Side arrested a woman they said was on the toilet with a crack pipe and syringes at her feet and a spoon with heroin in it on the bathtub.

Officers were called to a home on South Osborn Avenue for a complaint that drugs were being sold in the home. Officers stopped a van that was leaving the home and the man inside told them a woman was inside.

The officers knocked and someone allowed the police inside. They were told Hawn was in the bathroom. When they received no answer, they kicked in the bathroom door in because they were concerned someone may have been inside and overdosing.

When the officers got inside, they found Lindsey Hawn, 32, on the toilet, reports said. She was taken to the Mahoning County jail on charges of possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia, but the jail refused to take her because she had several open sutures, reports said. The officers then took her to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
