Mahoning Valley December jobless rate down slightly

YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning Valley’s jobless rate for December was 5.8 percent, down from 6 percent in December 2016.

The number of unemployed was 13,900, down from 14,500 the year prior. The number of employed went up to 226,000 from 225,500.

The civilian labor force, or the sum of the employed and unemployed, was 240,000, unchanged from the same month the previous year.
