No. 2 Virginia 59, Wake Forest 49

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.

Kyle Guy scored 17 points, and No. 2 Virginia beat Wake Forest for its 10th straight win. De’Andre Hunter added 16 points to help the first-place Cavaliers (18-1, 7-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) extend their longest winning streak since 2015-16 and open league play with seven victories for the second time in four years. Virginia shot nearly 46 percent in the second half while holding Wake Forest to 30 percent shooting after halftime. Bryant Crawford scored 11 points, and Mitchell Wilbekin and Brandon Childress added 10 apiece for the Demon Deacons (8-11, 1-6), who kept it close against a highly-ranked Virginia team for the second time in three years but still managed to lose their fifth straight. Devon Hall added 12 points to help the Cavaliers win a tight one in which there were nine lead changes and five ties.

No. 23 Michigan 62, Rutgers 47

ANN ARBOR, MICH.

Moe Wagner scored 16 points and Duncan Robinson added 12 to lift Michigan over Rutgers. The Wolverines (17-5, 6-3 Big Ten) rebounded from a 20-point loss at Nebraska on Thursday, taking the lead for good with a 13-0 run in the first half. Both teams shot well under 50 percent from the field, but this Michigan team is more capable of winning with defense than in the past. Corey Sanders scored 12 points for Rutgers (12-9, 2-6), and Deshawn Freeman added 11 points and 11 rebounds. Freeman also had the only assist of the game for Rutgers, which finished with 13 turnovers.

No. 25 Miami 86, North Carolina State 81

RALEIGH, N.C.

Bruce Brown Jr. scored 19 points and Miami shot 58 percent from the field. Anthony Lawrence II and Ebuka Izundu each had 15 points for the Hurricanes (14-4, 3-3 Atlantic Coast Conference). Miami led the entire second half but struggled to put the Wolfpack away in a game that came down to the final seconds. Miami came into Raleigh as one the ACC’s worst 3-point shooting teams, but made 10 of 19 tries from behind the arc for its best output in a league game. Omer Yurtseven had 28 points for the Wolfpack (13-7, 3-4), who shot 63 percent after halftime and 54 percent for the game.

WOMEN

No. 1 UConn 113, Temple 57

PHILADELPHIA

Kia Nurse scored 24 points and freshman Megan Walker added a career-best 22 to help No. 1 UConn rout Temple. The Huskies (18-0, 7-0 American) played without Katie Lou Samuelson, who was sidelined by an ankle injury after she got hurt against Tulsa on Thursday. It was a rough week for the junior forward. She was still sporting a blackened left eye after taking an elbow to the face against Texas on Monday. Mia Davis scored 19 points for Temple (9-9, 1-5), and Tanaya Atkinson had 15. The Owls have dropped six of seven.

No. 12 Florida State 50, No. 2 Louisville 49

LOUISVILLE, KY.

A.J. Alix made a go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:04 remaining and Nicole Ekhomu added a free throw with 7.8 seconds left, helping Florida State hand Louisville its first loss of the season. The Seminoles (18-2, 6-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) won despite shooting just 28 percent overall. Myisha Hines-Allen finished with 13 for Louisville (20-1, 6-1).

No. 3 Mississippi State 71, No. 6 Tennessee 52

KNOXVILLE, TENN.

Victoria Vivians had 24 points and nine rebounds as Mississippi State matched the best start in school history. Mississippi State (20-0, 6-0 SEC) also got off to a 20-0 start last season and went on to finish 34-5 with a loss to South Carolina in the NCAA Tournament final. Tennessee (16-3, 4-2) has lost three of its last four, with all four of those games coming against Top 25 foes.

No. 5 Notre Dame 90, Clemson 37

SOUTH BEND, IND.

Arike Ogunbowale and Jackie Young each scored 23 points, helping Notre Dame cruise to the win at home. Fresh off their biggest comeback ever, rallying from a 23-point deficit to beat No. 6 Tennessee 84-70 on Thursday, the Irish never were in trouble. Jessica Shepard scored 17 points on 8-for-9 shooting and Kathryn Westbeld had 14 points for Notre Dame (18-2, 6-1 Atlantic Coast Conference). Kobi Thornton had 16 points and 10 rebounds for Clemson (11-9, 1-6). The Tigers shot 26 percent (15 of 58) from the field.

No. 10 South Carolina 81, Kentucky 64

LEXINGTON, KY.

A’ja Wilson scored 26 points after missing two games because of an injury, leading South Carolina to the victory. Wilson, who tops the Southeastern Conference with 23.2 points per game, showed no ill effects in her return from a sprained right ankle. He shot 10 for 12 and also had eight rebounds. Former Kentucky forward Alexis Jennings added 17 points and seven rebounds for the Gamecocks (16-3, 5-2). Tyasha Harris had 12 points. Maci Morris led Kentucky (9-11, 1-5) with 19 points. Taylor Murray had 17.

No. 11 Missouri 88, Arkansas 54

COLUMBIA, MO.

Sophie Cunningham scored 22 points to lead five Missouri players in double figures. Kayla Michael and Lauren Aldridge had 13 points apiece, while Jordan Chavis and Jordan Frericks each scored 12, for Missouri (17-2, 5-1 SEC). Kiara Williams and Jailyn Mason topped Arkansas (11-9, 2-5) with 14 points apiece.
