Work to begin on sanitary sewer replacement in Poland forest

Work is slated to begin in the coming days on a sanitary-sewer line replacement in Poland Municipal Forest.

The Mahoning County Sanitary Engineering Department is overseeing the project to replace a 24-inch line to which numerous commercial and residential properties tie in, county Sanitary Engineer Patrick Ginnetti said.

The line is located under a somewhat remote trail located between the last houses on College Lane and the College Lane entrance to the forest.

The project will require clearing trees in that area.

J.S. Bova Excavating LLC of Struthers is the contractor on the project.

Ginnetti said the estimated construction cost is $334,000, with the Ohio Public Works Commission and the Sanitary Engineering Department sharing the cost.

Depending on weather conditions, construction is slated to last about four months, Ginnetti said.
