Mahoning Co. judge recuses self from Jamrozik case

YOUNGSTOWN — Judge R. Scott Krichbaum of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court has recused himself from former Lowellville Police Chief Richard Jamrozik’s criminal case.

The judge filed an entry earlier this month recusing himself from the case.

Jamrozik, 41, of Tenney Avenue, faces several counts of felonious assault, possessing criminal tools, tampering with evidence and theft in office.

At least one of the charges arose from Jamrozik’s time as an investigator in the Mahoning County Coroner’s office, when he was alleged to have stolen $2,500 from a home where he picked up a body.

That may lead to the appointment of a visiting judge.

A new judge has not been assigned to the case at this time, according to court records.
