Suspect arrested in killing of Pa. man

Farrell, Pa.

A 27-year-old Pittsburgh man is being held in the Mercer County jail on charges of criminal homicide, conspiracy to commit robbery and theft in the shooting death of a 49-year-old Farrell man.

Harry Kennedy Jr. was found dead of a gunshot wound inside of his Wallis Avenue residence late Thursday by members of the Mercer County State Police Major Case Team.

Police said they suspect Gerald Allen Frank of Pittsburgh was taking part in a plot to rob the victim of cash and narcotics, and during the robbery, he shot the victim.

Kennedy was taken to Sharon Regional Medical Center, where he was declared dead. His death has been ruled a homicide.

Crime watch

The Beaver Police Department will host its next crime watch meeting at 7 p.m. Jan. 23 at Shepherd of the Valley, 9111 Sharrott Road.

Judge Robert N. Rusu Jr. of Mahoning County Probate Court will be the guest speaker for the evening. Judge Rusu will speak on his role in the court. Local crime statistics also will be discussed.

Man hurt in fall

The Trumbull County 911 Center reported that a Spectrum employee slipped and fell from a utility pole Sunday on state Route 305.

Dispatch workers said the male worker was taken to a nearby hospital. There was no report on his condition.

Coalition meeting

YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown City Schools CEO Krish Mohip’s Citizens Coalition will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the commons area of Choffin Career and Technical Center, 200 E. Wood St.

This marks the third meeting of the coalition formed last fall to provide input and recommendations to Mohip.
