Davidson 75, Fordham 45

Jon Axel Gudmundsson scored 18 points, Kellan Grady added 14, and the pair combined for seven of Davidson’s 15 3-pointers. Davidson had 25 assists on 28 field goals as the Wildcats shot 52.8 percent, including 15 of 26 from distance. The Wildcats entered leading the country in assist-turnover ratio (1.89) and had just five miscues against the Rams. Oskar Michelsen scored 13 points and Peyton Aldridge 11 for Davidson (9-7, 4-1 Atlantic 10), which has won four straight games. KiShawn Pritchett had nine assists and Aldridge seven rebounds. Gudmundsson scored 14 points in the first half to help Davidson build a 37-26 advantage. Perris Hicks tied a career-high with 15 points, on five 3-pointers, to lead Fordham (6-11, 1-4). The Rams were just 16-of-43 shooting (37.2 percent) against the Wildcats, who have the top-ranked scoring defense (56.0) in league play.

Indiana 66, Northwestern 46

BLOOMINGTON, IND.

Robert Johnson scored 17 points and Juwan Morgan scored all eight points in the second half to lead the Indiana Hoosiers past Northwestern. Indiana (11-7, 4-2 Big Ten) took advantage of an 18-0 spurt in the second half to win its third straight. Vic Law and Isiah Brown each had nine points to lead the Wildcats (11-8, 2-4), who have lost three of four. And this loss may have been the worst yet. Northwestern shot 26.8 percent from the field, barely avoiding a season low, and was outplayed in virtually every facet. The Hoosiers, meanwhile, fought through the loss of Morgan to foul trouble for almost the entire first half. When he returned in the second half, it didn’t take the Hoosiers long to start pulling away. Indiana quickly extended a 24-19 halftime lead to nine before following the lead of Morgan and Johnson, who combined for the first 12 points in the big run that turned a 33-26 contest into a 53-26 blowout. Northwestern never challenged again.

Missouri State 76, Indiana State 73

SPRINGFIELD, MO.

Alize Johnson scored 21 points with 16 rebounds Jarred Dixon scored 15 points and Missouri State held off Indiana State. Ryan Kreklow made two 3-pointers in the last 71 seconds of the first half to put the Bears out front 40-30. Missouri State (14-5, 4-2 Missouri Valley Conference) maintained most of that lead for the first 10 minutes of the second half before the Sycamores closed to 57-54 with an 8-0 run on 3-pointers from Brenton Scott and Jordan Barnes and a jumper by Emondre Rickman. Following a Bears timeout, Indiana State took the lead with a 9-5 spurt and were up 63-62 with 3:31 left. Barnes’ 3 gave the Sycamores a 68-65 lead before an 8-0 Missouri State burst. The Sycamores missed all five shots during the Bears’ run. Barnes made a 3 with seven seconds left to reduce the deficit to 73-71 before Ryan Kreklow made 1 of 2 free throws. Barnes got fouled and sank two free throws to make it 74-73 before Kreklow made two foul shots to end the game. Barnes led Indiana State (8-10, 3-3) with 18 points, Tyreke Key scored 16 and Scott 13.

Niagara 73, Saint Peter’s 70

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y.

Matt Scott scored 23 points, Kahlil Dukes added 21 and the two were the difference down the stretch as Niagara beat Saint Peter’s. Scott’s jumper with 1:36 left broke a 70-all tie and Dukes made 1 of 2 free throws with nine seconds to go. Davauhnte Turner missed a 3-point attempt to tie at the buzzer. Scott scored six of Niagara’s last seven points.

Niagara (11-8, 4-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) led 43-36 with 13:06 remaining before the Peacocks went on a 15-8 run with Turner scoring the last 10 of the run with a pair of layups, a 3-point play and a 3-pointer to knot the score at 51. The Purple Eagles pushed the lead back to seven with a 15-8 run with Scott making a pair of 3s and Marving Prochet adding a jumper and a 3. Saint Peter’s (8-9, 2-4) made its last push with an 11-4 run, and tied it at 70 on Nick Griffin’s 3 with 2:09 left but didn’t score again. Turner finished with 22 points and Sam Idowu and Nnamdi Enechionyia each scored 12 for the Peacocks.

Army 64, Navy 62

ANNAPOLIS, MD.

Alex King scored 15 of his 17 points in the first half and Army held off Navy. King missed two free throws with seven seconds left and Cam Davis hit a 3-pointer at the other end. Army inbounded the ball with two seconds left and ran out the clock. Thomas Funk added 12 points and Jordan Fox 11 for Army (11-6, 4-2 Patriot League), which has won three straight games at Navy. The Black Knights were just 11 of 20 from the free-throw line. Army had a 35-23 lead at the break. Navy had just four points through nearly nine minutes to open the game and trailed 20-10 with seven minutes left in the half. Shawn Anderson took a shot to the face in the first half, requiring four stitches to his nose, but he returned after halftime and scored 20 of his 24 points in the second half for Navy (12-7, 3-3). George Kiernan added 13 points with nine rebounds. Anderson made all 10 of his free throws as the Midshipmen went 20 of 22. It was Navy’s first sellout crowd, of 5,710, since last season’s game against Army.

Loyola (Md.) 83, Lafayette 77

Andre Walker scored a career-high 43 points to help Loyola (Maryland) beat Lafayette. Walker was 16-of-26 shooting with six 3-pointers to top his previous high of 35 set against Boston University last season. He was one point shy of tying the program’s single-game record by Jim Lacy (1948) and Joel Hittleman (’54). Walker also had six rebounds and four steals. Walker moved into 11th on Loyola’s scoring list, passing Bob Connor (1967-71) and B.J. Pendleton (1991-95). Isaiah Hart added 15 points with a career-high seven assists and Cam Gregory had 13 points and 10 rebounds for Loyola (5-12, 3-3 Patriot League). The Greyhounds shot 56 percent from the field but were just 9 of 19 from the free-throw line. Matt Klinewski led Lafayette (4-13, 2-4) with 25 points. Alex Petrie and Justin Jaworski each added 14 points. Petrie tied it at 53-all with 12:30 left but Walker scored 17 of Loyola’s next 19 points for a 72-58 lead at the 5:59 mark.

Houston 65, East Carolina 49

GREENVILLE, N.C.

Corey Davis Jr. scored 20 points, Fabian White Jr. added 17 with six rebounds and three blocks and Houston easily handled East Carolina. Davis and White combined to shoot 15 for 22 from the field, though the rest of the Cougars mustered just 11-of-44 shooting. Rob Gray added 12 points with nine assists. Houston (14-3, 4-1 American Athletic Conference) used a 15-3 run early to build a 22-9 advantage when Davis made three 3s — two in succession — and Wes VanBeck made a 3 and followed with a jumper. Gray’s 3-point play with 1:57 before halftime made it 30-12. He followed with a pair of free throws and a 3-pointer and the Cougars led 36-17 at the break. The Pirates shot 6 for 27 (22 percent) before halftime and trailed by double digits the rest of the way. Shawn Williams led East Carolina (7-10, 1-5) with 17 points and B.J. Tyson scored 12.

Canisius 94, Monmouth 79

BUFFALO, N.Y.

Jermaine Crumpton scored 23 points, Isaiah Reese added 22 and the pair led a big second-half in a Canisius victory over Monmouth that kept the Golden Griffins tied atop the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Trailing 45-43 at halftime, Reese scored 14 points and Crumpton 12 in the second half as the Griffins outscored the Hawks 51-34. Takal Molson finished with 18 points, Jibreel Faulkner 12 and Malik Johnson 10 for Canisius (11-8, 5-1), which is tied with Iona for first. Four Griffins had three 3-pointers each with Canisius going 14 of 30 from the arc. Monmouth led by as many as 13 points in the first half but the Griffins used an 11-6 run to close within two at the break. Austin Tilghman scored 22 points, Louie Pillari had four 3-pointers and 18 points and Diago Quinn 15 points for the Hawks (5-12, 1-4). The teams combined 53 fouls and 72 free throws.

Lehigh 76, American 66

BETHLEHEM, PA.

Pat Andree scored 19 points and James Karnik had a career-high 16 points with 12 rebounds for his third double-double this season in leading Lehigh over American. Lance Tejada added 13 points and Kyle Leufroy 10 for the Mountain Hawks (8-9, 3-3 Patriot League), who made 21 of 23 free throws in snapping a two-game skid. Sa’eed Nelson scored 16 points, Larry Motuzis had 14 points and 12 rebounds for his first double-double this season with Cheikh Diallo adding 13 points and Marvin Bragg 10 for the Eagles (4-13, 1-5), who made 12 of 32 from the arc. Lehigh had a 12-0 run on its way to a 35-23 advantage at halftime. The Mountain Hawks kept the lead in the second half though the Eagles got within five with a pair of 3-pointers in the final minute before Andree and Jordan Cohen hit two free throws each.

Boston University 54, Holy Cross 40

WORCESTER, MASS.

Cedric Hankerson scored 10 points and reached a milestone to help Boston University stymie Holy Cross. Hankerson’s steal and dunk in the middle of the second half made him the 17th Terrier to reach 1,200 career points. He was the only player to reach double figures for BU (9-8, 5-1 Patriot League), who have won three straight. Max Mahoney’s layup as time expired in the first half but the Terriers up for good, 25-23. The Crusaders (4-13, 1-5), who have lost seven of eight, were within two when Hankerson scored and then the Terriers began knocking down some 3-pointers to open up some breathing room. BU went 6 of 13 from distance, four of the makes coming in the second half. Holy Cross was just 5 of 24 behind the arc and shot 33 percent overall (15 of 46). Austin Butler had 11 points for Holy Cross, which had its worst shooting game of the season and was held to a season low in points.

Iona 91, Rider 64

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y.

Schadrac Casimir scored 15 points, Deyshonee Much 14 and Iona shot 57 percent from the arc in beating Rider. The Gaels (11-7, 5-1 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) made 16 of 28 3-point tries with Much and Jan Svandrlik, who scored 12 points, sinking four each. Rickey McGill added 13 points and nine assists and E.J. Crawford 10 for Iona, which shot 58 percent and won its fourth straight. Stevie Jordan scored 14 points in 17 minutes in the first half for the Broncs but left the game, after falling awkwardly, with 3:14 remaining before the break. Jordan didn’t return, being carried out to the bench for the second half and then using crutches. Rider (11-6, 4-2) made 4 of 9 3-pointers and trailed just 44-40 at halftime but missed all six from long range in the second half when it shot 38 percent compared to 55 percent in the first half. Dimencio Vaughn and Tyere Marshal scored 11 and 10 points, respectively, for Rider, which had a four-game win streak snapped.
