State Rep. Michele Lepore-Hagan, a Democrat, will file nominating petitions for a third two-year term in the 58th Ohio House District today. Lepore-Hagan, of Youngstown, serves as ranking member of the House Economic Development, Commerce and Labor Committee.
Probing fatal accident

Ohio State Highway Patrol continues investigating a traffic accident that killed an 84-year-old woman Wednesday in Jackson Township.
According to patrol reports to 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, Treva Dangerfield, 62, of Warren was driving a car on Gladstone Road when it went off the side of the road and struck a culvert and fence. Dangerfield’s 84-year-old passenger, Laverne Hall, was transported to a local hospital, where she later died. Troopers said both women wore seat belts.
Convicted felon arrested
BOARDMAN
Township police arrested a convicted felon who they said was in illegal possession of a firearm.
According to a police report, about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, officers were told to be on the lookout for a vehicle in which the passenger “was involved in a recent shooting and ... may be in possession of a firearm.”
When police stopped the vehicle, the passenger, Raheem Satterthwaite, 28, of Youngstown, refused to comply with police orders. Police also reported seeing a black revolver underneath the passenger seat. He faces charges of illegal possession of a weapon, obstructing official business and resisting arrest.
Accepting resumes
GIRARD
Girard City Council is accepting resumes for the vacated position of 3rd Ward councilman. Resumes will be accepted through 3 p.m. Jan. 17 at the mayor’s office.
Applicants must be at least 18, a ward resident and a registered voter.
