Comedy night at Nic’s Lounge

A comedy show featuring headliner John Armstrong will take place Saturday at 8:30 p.m. Nic’s Lounge, 1629 N. Main St. Admission is $5.

Opening act will be Marcus Martin. The hosts will be Shawn Aaron and Jon Huff.

Special guests will include Donna Lee, Boo Jones, Alex K, Will Hopkins, Nikkia Stewart, Mike Bono, Aarik Nesby, Lex Godoy, Josh Winters, Terry Portersfield and Dwan Ford.

Networking events for area artists

NEW CASTLE, PA.

The Hoyt Center for the Arts, 124 E. Leasure Ave., is introducing a series of free networking opportunities for artists to share ideas, explore opportunities and learn from each other.

The first will be March 8 from 6-8 p.m., and will feature simple food and drink followed by a short discussion with Jerald Melberg of the Jerald Melberg Gallery, Charlotte, N.C.

Melberg’s topic will be “The Gallery-Artist Relationship.” He will review everything from how to get started on your research to seeking long-term gallery representation.

The Hoyt has been working with the Jerald Melberg Gallery to exhibit notable artists for the last 12 years.

Bowie exhibition has pricey options

NEW YORK

A highly anticipated New York City museum show highlighting the life and work of David Bowie will feature exclusive perks for those willing to pay $2,500 for a ticket.

The Brooklyn Museum’s “David Bowie is” exhibition will run from March 2 to July 15, and the institution will forgo its suggested pricing for entrance in favor of a mandatory $20 weekday entrance fee and $25 on weekends. The Wall Street Journal reports the museum will also offer an “Aladdin Sane” ticket — named for the 1973 Bowie album — for $2,500.

The ticket will offer the buyer private access to the exhibition, alongside a host of other exclusive benefits. It is the first time the museum will offer special exhibition tickets with different perks.
