BINGO

Girard Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary will host a bingo party on Sunday at 26 W. Wilson Ave. Doors open at noon, and bingo begins at 1 p.m. Cost is $5 and includes chicken salad croissant and chips and a master sheet. There also will be a bake sale, 50-50 drawing and basket raffles. Extra master sheets will be available for $1 each or free with four nonperishable items.

FUNDRAISERS

Boardman Lions Club will host its annual Night at the Races fundraiser Saturday at the Operating Engineers Hall, 291 McClurg Road. Doors open at 6 p.m. with races beginning at 7. The $15 entrance fee includes an all-you-can-eat buffet sponsored by area restaurants, beer and non-alcoholic beverages. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance from club members. The event will feature a 50-50 raffle, basket raffle and silent auction with baskets donated by area restaurants and specialty shops. Proceeds will support the annual Coats for Kids Project, eyeglass purchases and exams for needy residents, maintenance of flower gardens for township welcome signs, two scholarships for seniors and the purchase of trees for fourth-grade students. Girard Multi-Generational Center’s annual fundraiser “Cars are the Stars 4” will include two special raffles this year. Winners will be announced the day of the show, June 2 (rain date, June 9). Tickets are $5 for each raffle. The first raffle is for a 55-inch 4K UHD TV, and the second is for a $250 Visa gift card sponsored by Windsor House Inc. Winners do not need to be present, and all proceeds will benefit the center. Newton Falls Preservation Foundation will present “An Intimate Afternoon with Folk Legends” at 2 p.m. March 18 at Roby Lee’s Restaurant, 425 Ridge Road. The event will feature the music of Alex Bevan, Jim Ballard, Jim Gill and Tim Cole. Tickets are $25, which includes food. The cost for a VIP table is $400, which includes a front-row table, eight tickets, food and two bottles of complimentary wine. There are only nine front-row tables available. Proceeds will benefit efforts to save the historic USO/community center building. St. Baldrick’s Foundation will be the recipient of proceeds from the seventh annual Head Shaving Event fundraiser that will take place from 1 to 6 p.m. March 10 at O’Donold’s Irish Pub & Grill, 6000 Mahoning Ave., Austintown. St. Stephen Church of Niles will host its annual “Luck of the Irish” fundraiser March 17 at Ciminero’s Banquet Center, 123 N. Main St., Niles. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased by calling 330-652-4396. The event will include a buffet-style dinner, desserts and an open bar. There will be more than $7,000 worth of cash and other prizes that include three jackpots of $500, $750 and $1500; a lottery tree; a restaurant gift card tree; a gift basket Irish auction as well as other ways to win. New this year in the live auction will be 12 seats for an April 22 dinner, prepared by the Rev. James Korda, president of the Catholic Television Network of Youngstown, administrator of St. Stephen Church and host of the Wineskins program, and Lisa Abraham, cookbook author and retired food editor of The Columbus Dispatch and Akron Beacon Journal. They will offer a six-course meal complete with wine pairings and narration, which they will serve to the 12 people who bid the highest for a seat at the table.

Churchill United Methodist Church, 189 Church Hill-Hubbard Road, Liberty, is hosting its “Grief Share” program for all who have suffered a loss. Classes begin at 6 p.m. and take place every Thursday through April 19. The meetings will take place on the second floor of the church’s educational building.

Protestant Family Services is planning its seventh Scrabble Tournament on March 10 at Wedgewood Park Evangelical Church, 1944 S. Meridian Road, Youngstown. Sutliff Museum is exhibiting a collection of teapots that features ceramic and stoneware teapots collected from all over the world, including Taiwan and Japan. This exhibit is open through April. Suzie’s Dogs & Drafts, 34 N. Phelps St., Youngstown, in cooperation with the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley, is sponsoring a “Donate a Hot Dog” campaign in hopes of providing food to the area’s homeless population. Throughout the year, Suzie’s customers can donate a hot dog for the hungry and write a note of support. Donations will be matched dog-for-dog by the restaurant. On the second Wednesday of every month, employees will provide a meal and bring all the notes for the overnight residents and meal visitors at the Rescue Mission. The goal is food for the body and encouragement for the spirit. The project was inspired by the shooting death last November of Colin Brown. Brown worked in the restaurant industry, managing newly opened restaurants and helping get them off the ground. He was a volunteer with the Common Wealth Kitchen Incubator in Youngstown, was known for his pay it forward attitude and always helping those in need.

TRIPS AND TOURS

Junior League of Youngstown will host a round trip from Youngstown to New York City from April 13 to 15. Tickets are available until March 14, and payment plans will be accepted but must be paid in full by March 14. Tickets are transferable if unable to attend. No cash refunds will be issued. All minors must be accompanied by an adult.
