Board approves calendar revisions

Board approves calendar revisions

AUSTINTOWN

During a recent special board meeting, the Austintown School Board approved an adjustment to the 2017-18 calendar in regards to the spring break schedule. March 26, 27, and 28 will now be non-school days for students. The reasons for the revision are as follows: the board heard concerns regarding the length of spring break and wanted to give families the opportunity to take a trip; an Ohio Athletic Association rule caused a conflict with one of the district’s athletic programs; staff will be able to take advantage of this time and participate in professional development surrounding school safety; and the board felt it was necessary for staff to again take part in active-shooter training.
