Hilltop Elementary School students celebrated Valentine’s Day by passing out valentines to their classmates and playing games and making crafts during their annual classroom parties on Feb. 14.

Each class had a party in their classrooms, coordinated by PTO volunteers, during which students played games, made crafts, enjoyed a snack and exchanged the all-important valentines.

Students brought in hand-decorated Valentine bags and boxes, such as a castle, an owl, a soccer ball, a soccer field, an ice cream truck, a Rubik’s Cube, a fox and Cupid’s Porta-Potty, to collect valentines and treats from their classmates.

Special Valentine-themed games students played included a race to pick up heart-shaped candies with chopsticks, stacking candy hearts with mittens on, a jumbo Jenga game, a heart ring toss and a heart target game.

Many students, staff and PTO volunteers also got into the spirit of the holiday and celebrated it by wearing their Valentine best, including red, pink and white shirts and special Valentine-themed clothes, accessories such as heart headbands and hair bows.

The school’s PTO provided snacks and drinks for the parties.
