NEWTON FALLS

Newton Falls police arrested several people on drug-related charges within the last week and confiscated drugs in an effort to curtail illegal drug activities within the village.

Police Chief Gene Fixler said his department is resuming aggressive patrols aimed at curtailing drugs and other crimes in the community. Also, he said the department has a Drug Abuse Resistance Education officer, a school resource and officers working undercover both within the department and with the Trumbull-Ashtabula Drug Task Force.

Arrested recently were people from Newton Falls and neighboring communities on drug-related charges. Police also confiscated suspected marijuana and other suspected drugs.

“As far as anyone ... selling drugs in Newton Falls, no matter what type they may be, you’re going to be under our radar,” Fixler said.
