Boardman police catch suspected drug dealer in the act

Township police served a search warrant at a Grover Drive residence, resulting in a drug-trafficking arrest.

According to a police report, police arrived at the residence in the 4500 block of Grover shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday and observed Lamar Reed, 18, who lives at the address, “exit a white Ford in the driveway, run to the end of the driveway and make a hand-to-hand drug transaction” through the vehicle’s window.

While police took Reed into custody and took the $50 they believe he had just received from a drug deal, police observed one man run around the house and another run into the house, according to the report.

Police reported encountering numerous people in the house, including a 2-year-old child.

The house was cleared using a robot, according to the report.

A search turned up these items: a paper containing suspected heroin from the person to whom police said Reed sold drugs; $1,604 on Reed and in the house; a bag of suspected crack cocaine and heroin in the Ford vehicle; a flip phone; ammunition; a digital scale; two guns; and other drug-related items, according to police.

The substances found in the house tested positive as heroin and cocaine, police said.

Reed is charged with possession of drugs/drug abuse, trafficking in the vicinity of a juvenile and a drug-paraphernalia possession offense, according to court records.

Reed is in the Mahoning County jail. He is scheduled to appear in Mahoning County Area Court today for arraignment.
