Pair arrested after botched sale in Austintown
AUSTINTOWN
A man was struck by a vehicle following a botched sale at a township gas station early today.
Frankie Russo, 26, and Ashley Mock, 18, both of Gaither Avenue, Youngstown, are facing charges of aggravated robbery and felonious assault. According to the police report, the two are accused of running over a man’s leg after taking money during an arranged sale at the Sheetz gas station on Mahoning Avenue.
Three family members involved in the exchange tried to stop Russo after he ran back to the vehicle Mock was driving, the report said. While driving off, they damaged a car door, and ran into a pole near a gas pump before leaving the gas station, according to the report.
Mock led police on a short chase into Youngstown, but a flat tire slowed the vehicle, according to the report. Youngstown police assisted with the traffic stop, and Mock and Russo were arrested.
Mock will appear in court at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. No court filing for Russo’s hearing has been released.
