SPORTS digest Grady set to defend Hubbard Open title

Matt O’Grady of Rahway, N.J. will return to compete in the Hubbard Open at Bell-Wick Bowl, March 16-17-18, co-host Jim Bryant announced.

O’Grady, fresh off of his first PBA Tour victory in the PBA Tournament of Champions that concluded Feb. 11 at Riviera Lanes in Fairlawn, was the first of 16 PBA members drafted this past weekend as eight PBA League teams filled out their rosters for the 2018 PBA League Elias Cup competition, April 20-22 in Portland, Maine.

Saturday’s PBA League Draft began with the 31-year-old O’Grady being selected from a list of 49 eligible players.

O’Grady became the Hubbard Open’s first repeat champion in March, 2017.
