City traffic stop yields drug charges


YOUNGSTOWN — Reports said police found heroin on a man during a traffic stop at about 8:50 p.m. Saturday at West Evergreen Avenue and Summer Street.

Officers pulled over a car driven by Ricky Thompson, 41, of Greenville, Pa., for an improper turn and Thompson agreed to allow officers to search him. When they did they found a burnt spoon in his pants and Thompson told police he had a syringe in his pants as well, reports said. He was arrested on charges of possession of drug abuse instruments.

A passenger, Zachary Yavorsky, 35, no address listed, had a bag of heroin in his pockets when he was searched and police also found two crack pipes the seat where he was sitting, reports said.

He was booked into the Mahoning County jail on charges of possession of heroin and possession of drug abuse instruments.
