A summary of recent criminal activity in Canfield and Austintown:

CANFIELD

Feb. 7

Threats: A man reported having received such a text message while staying at a West Main Street motel.

Feb. 9

Summons: Kevin Monday, 41, of Clayton, Mich., was charged with driving under suspension after having been pulled over on Lisbon Road.

Drugs: A traffic stop on West Main Street resulted in the arrest of Alexis V. Depol, 26, of Cricket Lane, Columbiana, on charges of drug abuse (cocaine) and possessing drug paraphernalia, as well as on a Boardman warrant charging theft. Also taken into custody was Oshai Craft, 24, of Edenridge Drive, Boardman, who was wanted on a warrant charging her with failing to appear in Struthers Municipal Court.

Feb. 10

Summons: Police on West Main Street issued a summons charging Matthew Balciar, 28, of West Main, Canfield, with driving under suspension.

Feb. 11

Citation: Derek Hale, 28, of Surrey Lane, Canfield, was cited on a charge of driving 52 mph on Fairground Boulevard, which has a 25-mph speed limit.

AUSTINTOWN

Feb. 8

Arrest: Authorities at the Mercer County, Pa., jail took custody of Donald J. Wilson, 38, of West Middlesex, Pa. He was wanted on an Austintown warrant.

Domestic violence: Kenneth P. Olsavsky, 50, of Colgate Drive, Austintown, faced a felony domestic-violence charge after his girlfriend alleged that during an argument, Olsavsky shoved her backward, causing the accuser to fall in snow, then began to choke her. The victim complained of pain to her right knee and neck area. The charge was elevated because of previous such convictions, a report stated.

Drugs: After stopping his car on South Edgehill Avenue, police cited William A. Maddox IV, 48, of Parkgate Avenue, Austintown, on charges of drug abuse and possessing drug paraphernalia, when, they alleged, Maddox handed officers a small container with suspected marijuana. Also, a search revealed a suspected marijuana pipe in a book bag, a report said.

Arrest: After pulling him over on state Route 46, officers took Michael A. Nuzzi of North Bentley Avenue, Niles, into custody. Nuzzi, 58, was wanted on a Trumbull County 911 center warrant charging him with a probation violation.

Recovered property: A cellphone was found after having been reported stolen in the 6100 block of Mahoning Avenue.

Theft: Mail was reported stolen from a home in the 4200 block of Patricia Avenue.

Theft: Someone in the 3900 block of Ayrshire Drive removed a global positioning system unit from a vehicle.

Theft: Police were dispatched to the Trumbull County jail to pick up Jason H. Bailes, 36, of Burnett Road, Leavittsburg, who was wanted on a theft charge. Bailes was accused of taking two boxes of snack foods valued at $90 last October from a Sheetz gas station, 5499 Mahoning Ave.

Feb. 9

Home invasion: Authorities charged Michael P. Doepker, 24, of North Kimberly Avenue, Austintown, and Noah M. Matheny, 21, of New Road, Austintown, with six counts each of aggravated robbery and kidnapping and one of aggravated burglary, as well as Mark A. Hernandez, 21, of Cambridge Avenue, Youngstown, with six counts each of complicity to kidnapping and aggravated robbery and one of complicity to aggravated burglary after a man reported three masked men with rifles kicked in a locked door to his North Beverly Avenue residence, claimed they were agents with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency and demanded money, cellphones and jewelry, then held the victim and five others hostage at gunpoint. Several other occupants told police the gunmen also demanded drugs and ransacked the home. Later, a loaded handgun, multiple denominations of money and a set of keys were found in a duffel bag, a report showed. A fourth suspect remains at large, police said.

Theft: Kayla N. McMurray, 22, of state Route 534, Newton Falls, surrendered on a theft charge after cigarettes and other merchandise were stolen from Walmart, 6001 Mahoning Ave.

Feb. 10

Counterfeit: A fake $20 bill was found at KFC, 4642 Mahoning Ave.

Drugs: A traffic stop near North Navarre Avenue led to the arrest of Michelle L. Burchett, 45, on a felony charge of drug abuse (cocaine). Burchett, of Carnegie Avenue, Austintown, had a bag of suspected cocaine on her purse in the vehicle, a report showed.

Theft: Police charged Jerry J. Bohrer, 55, of Manchester Avenue, Youngstown, with theft and possessing criminal tools, as well as Leland R. Hunt Jr., 49, same address, with complicity to theft after 21 assorted sizes of wrench sockets valued at $237 were stolen from Tractor Supply Co., 6225 Mahoning Ave. Hunt admitted having helped Bohrer commit the crime, authorities alleged.

Feb. 11

Theft: Two boys reportedly stole toy guns from Walmart.

Feb. 12

Criminal damaging: A door to a residence in the 400 block of South Raccoon Road sustained damage.

Theft: A Westchester Drive man discovered money had been removed from his bank account.

Criminal damaging: Kevin D. Talley Jr., 28, of Kirk Road, Austintown, surrendered on a criminal-damaging charge after a display counter and a cooler were damaged last month at a Speedway gas station, 4401 Kirk Road.
