Sentenced in burglary

YOUNGSTOWN

A Youngstown man involved in a brutal 2016 stabbing will serve five years in prison. Robert Hornbuckle, 28, of East Ravenwood Avenue appeared Thursday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court, where Judge John M. Durkin imposed the sentence on charges of burglary and felonious assault.

In October 2016, Hornbuckle and Amanda Wilhite, 34, of Market Street, broke into a Market Street home where Wilhite stabbed a man more than 30 times, investigators said. Both the prosecutor and defense attorney agreed that Hornbuckle did not stab the victim.

Wilhite faces multiple charges including felonious assault and attempted murder and her case remains open before the court.

Hornbuckle completed a seven-year prison sentence in January 2016 for improper discharging of a firearm into a habitation. Judge Durkin said his biggest concern was the short time Hornbuckle spent on parole before becoming involved in another crime.
