Macchios celebrate 50th anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. John Macchio of Canfield recently celebrated their 50th anniversary with a renewal of their wedding vows at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Youngstown.

The event was hosted by their children, Michelle (Pat) Gaia and Melissa (Tim) Styranec, all of Canfield. The couple also have three grandsons, PJ Gaia, Tim Styranec and John Styranec.

Mr. Macchio and the former Marie Mamonis were married Dec. 2, 1967, at Mahoning Methodist Church in Youngstown.

Mrs. Macchio is a homemaker.

Mr. Macchio worked in the steel industry for 18 years and then worked 31 years for the Ohio Department of Transportation in highway maintenance before retiring Feb. 1, 2012. He also served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970.

The couple are members of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Youngstown.
