Quarries of Mill Creek Park

What: What U.S. president invested in Bears Den Quarry? Learn about the stone quarries of Mill Creek Park with Bob Coggeshall. A hike to several quarries will follow.

Jewels of Winter

What: Find the spirit of the tropics within the Davis Center as you observe orchids on display.

Winter Survival Skills

When: Feb. 24, 1-3 p.m.

What: Learn some survival skills for the winter season with Naturalist Bill Gilmour. Begin with fire starters, then learn other skills ranging from primitive survival to preplanned emergency items.

Where: MetroParks Farm, 7574 Columbiana-Canfield Road, Canfield.

Cost: $2 for Mahoning County residents, $3, NR.

Master Gardener Volunteer Training

When: March 22 through May

What: Master gardener volunteer training. Covers everything from herbs and vegetables to insects and plant botany. Volunteers help with community programs and clinics. Volunteer service hours required after training is completed.
