SPORTS digest Zallow, Corbett win HL Athletes of the Week


Youngstown State track and field athletes Chad Zallow and Jaynee Corbett have been named Horizon League Track and Field Athletes of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.

It is the third time this season that Zallow and Corbett have received the league’s weekly honor. Zallow was recognized previously on Jan. 23 and Jan. 30 while Corbett has won three straight weekly honors.

Zallow won the 60m hurdles at the SPIRE Division I Invitational and placed second in the 60m dash with a time of 6.83 seconds. In the 60m hurdles he won with a time of 7.75 seconds.

Corbett won the shot put and placed eighth in the weight throw at the SPIRE Invitational. Corbett took first out of 22 throws in the shot put with a throw of 15.62m. In the weight throw she had a best of 17.42m.

The Penguins are in action Friday at the Zips Invitational in Akron.
