Valley trivia at history center

YOUNGSTOWN

Bill Lawson, executive director of the Mahoning Valley Historical Society, will lead an interactive program on Mahoning Valley trivia at noon Thursday at the Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St., downtown. Lawson will pose questions to the audience about various people, places and events that have shaped the Valley.

The presentation is part of the MVHS’s Bites and Bits of History lunch series. Guests can bring a lunch, or visit nearby Overture restaurant for its $6 Bites and Bits Lunch Special. Call Overture at 330-744-9900 to place an order. Coffee, pop and water are available for purchase at the Tyler.

The daily parking lot on the west side of the building is available for $2.50.

Upcoming programs on the schedule include:

March 15: Civil War Headlines. Traci Manning, MVHS curator of education, will discuss how the Civil War was covered by the local news media.

April 19: Early Technology Changed the Way We Communicate. Bruce Manning, a retired emergency management director, will discuss one of the most important technological advances in history: the telegraph.

Valentine’s Jam, featuring MC Greg J from Youngstown’s Total Package Band, will take place Friday at Flambeau’s, 2308 Market St., from 9 p.m. to midnight. It will include an open mic, line dancing, food and drinks and a best red dress contest. Admission is $3.
