Man who fled courthouse faces new charges
YOUNGSTOWN — A man who ran out of the Mahoning County Courthouse Thursday just before a court appearance was arrested Sunday at St. Elizabeth Youngstown when he went to visit a family member.
Brandon Jones, 26, is in the Mahoning County jail with no bond for his charges relating to his escape Thursday, where he pushed a deputy down in the fourth floor courtroom of Judge Lou D’Apolito, then ran down four flights of stairs, eluded deputies at the front door and ran through the downtown, getting away.
Jones was in court for a hearing on charges for burglary, abduction and kidnapping charges from Lowellville. He was just informed his bond was being revoked because of a warrant he had from Girard Municipal Court.
He faces a new charge of assault on a police officer. Judge D’Apolito ordered he be held without bond on the other charges.
