Man faces charges for failure to inform police about CCW

YOUNGSTOWN — Reports said police investigating why a Bears Den Road road man failed to move his car for a city snowplow early Sunday morning arrested him for carrying a concealed weapon after he failed to inform police he had a concealed carry permit.

Anthony Kalis, 29, was taken to the Mahoning County jail on the charge. He is expected to be arraigned in municipal court today.

An officer saw a car about 2:40 a.m. driven by Kalis at West Commerce and Phelps streets refuse to move after a snow plow behind him honked its horn twice. Eventually, the plow managed to get around him, reports said.

Reports said an officer asked Kalis why he did not move and Kalis said he was making plans with a couple of other people. Police ran a records check and found Kalis has a CCW permit, but he failed to tell police that when they talked to him, reports said.

Kalis said he had a gun in a holster on his hip and officers found a loaded .22-caliber pistol.
