Boardman man arrested for reported assault on woman


BOARDMAN — Township police arrested Joshua Burke, 27, of Boardman on charges of domestic violence and felonious assault over the weekend.

Early Sunday, police met with the woman who explained after a verbal argument with Burke over another man hugging her, Burke slammed her head into the passenger-side window of the car they were in. The incident left the woman with a bloody nose. Burke denied causing any injury to the woman and said the injuries were self-inflicted, according to the police report.

The woman showed signs of having a seizure, and she was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, police said.

Burke is in the Mahoning County jail. He is to appear in Mahoning County Area Court at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
