Music at Madison cabaret will salute Neil Diamond

YOUNGSTOWN

Neil Diamond has always been one of the most popular themes for the Music at Madison cabaret. This year, with the legendary singer retiring from touring and as a tribute, Music at Madison will present an evening of his music performed by Rodd Coonce, with Jack Ciarniello on keyboard and Tom Ruggieri on percussion. Other featured entertainers for the show will include Patsy Sullivan, Colleen Chance and Nanette Midgley.

Music at Madison cabaret shows, now in its 15th year, take place at Dorian Books, 802 Elm St., North Side. Linen-covered tables with candles and floral decorations, beautiful ceiling treatment and wonderful mood lighting set the scene. The evening begins with a 7 p.m. potluck dinner (potluck welcome, not required) and an 8 p.m. show Saturday. The audience always enjoys singing along. Admission is $20. Steel historian to give lecture

Rick Rowlands, local historian and founder of the Youngstown Steel Heritage Museum, will give a presentation on the Mahoning Valley’s steel legacy at 10 a.m. Saturday at Kravitz Deli’s meeting room, 3135 Belmont Ave.

The lecture is sponsored by the William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society. Admission is $6. Reservations are suggested; call Richard Scarsella at 330-726-8277. The event will include entertainment by Dolores DePetro and a raffle to benefit the WHMHS.
