Poland kindergarten registration set to begin March 3
Staff report
POLAND
Registration for children entering Poland Local Schools Kindergarten this fall will take place from 9 a.m. to noon March 3 and 10 at Union Elementary School, 30 Riverside Drive. Children currently enrolled in Poland’s Union kindergartens do not need to re-register for first grade.
Anyone interested also will be able to register children for preschool and after-school care programs. Those programs take place at North Elementary. New students, entering Poland schools next fall, in grades 1-4, also may register. It is not necessary to bring children or siblings to the registration process.
Parents or guardians must provide the following information. Children cannot be registered without this information: original birth certificate and Social Security card; immunization records; proof of residency (mortgage documents, house closing papers or rental agreement); parent identification (drivers’ license and two current utility bills or credit card statements); and, if applicable, custody papers. No forms will be given until March 3.
A child entering kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before Aug. 1 to be eligible for admission. Those entering first grade must be 6 on or before Aug. 1. If a child attended another school for kindergarten and has a birthday after Aug. 1, parents will be referred to the school psychologist before the child is enrolled.
A screening program is planned for April 4 and 5. Parents will be given an appointment time for the screening during the registration process. It is important that all incoming kindergarten students are registered and screened. For questions, call Mrs. Morrow at 330-757-7014, secretary at Union Elementary School.
