Corbett, Zallow win events at SPIRE
GENEVA
Jaynee Corbett took first in the shot put and Chad Zallow won the 60m hurdles as the Penguins competed at the SPIRE Division I Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Corbett won the shot put with a throw of 15.62m. She placed ahead of Fresno State’s Kayla Hopkins who had a best effort of 15.18m.
Zallow won the 60m hurdles with a time of 7.75 seconds beating Penn State’s William Henderson who ran a time of 8.00 seconds. Zallow also ran the 60m dash running a time of 6.83 second to place second. Winning the event was Penn State’s Xavier Smith.
Amber Eles was third in the 60m hurdles in a strong field running a time of 8.46 seconds. Winning the hurdles was Notre Dames Summer Thorpe while Penn State’s Quenee Dale was second.
Daiquain Watson was third in the long jump with a leap of 6.40m. Watson was sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 13.13m.
In the women’s 60m dash, YSU placed third and fourth. Finishing third was Jaliyah Elliott who clocked a 7.50 while Keishawnna Burts was fourth running a 7.59.
