Charged after high-speed chase in Warren

WARREN

Police found a digital scale, marijuana and $534 cash after a chase that reached speeds of up to 70 mph.

Tarreyn Rodgers, of Peace Street, was booked into the Trumbull County jail on charges of trafficking in drugs and fleeing and eluding. Police arrested him after a chase that began about 7:25 p.m. Thursday at Youngstown Road near East Avenue.

Reports said officers tried to pull over a car he was driving because he was thought to be involved in an earlier threat to rob a nearby store. Reports said Rodgers refused to pull over and led police on a chase on East Market Street to North Road.

Police called off the pursuit, but Rodgers later was spotted getting out of his car near John F. Kennedy High School. Police caught him after a foot chase in a backyard on Wick Street Southeast. The suspected marijuana, scale and cash were all in Rodgers’ clothes, reports said.
