YSU’s Lusk excels as softball starts 2-0

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.

The Youngstown State softball team started the season 2-0 after beating Hampton and Gardner-Webb in a season-opening doubleheader.

YSU pitcher Maddi Lusk pitched a complete game in the Penguins’ 7-1 win over Hampton.

Paige Geanangel picked up YSU’s second win after pitching four innings of relief — allowing one run on one hit. The Penguins won 7-4 over Gardner-Webb after Lusk drove in three runs on two hits.

The Penguins have won seven of their last eight regular season games dating to last season.
