Woman gets 15k bond on child endangering charge

A West Indianola Avenue woman is in the Mahoning County jail on $15,000 bond after she was arraigned Friday in municipal court on a felony child-endangering charge.

Police arrested Floayeshia Robinson, 27, about 2 a.m. Friday after reports said her 10-year-old daughter showed up at a Brentwood Avenue home on the South Side wearing nothing but her underwear and claiming she was beaten with a cord.

Witnesses on Brentwood Avenue told police the girl was knocking on their doors saying, “Help me,” reports said.

Robinson told police she saw her daughter run out of the house and ran after her but she lost sight of her, so she returned home.

City Prosecutor Dana Lantz told Magistrate Anthony Sertick the victim was examined for hypothermia at St. Elizabeth Youngs-town Hospital, and she also had several marks on her body that are consistent with someone who was hit with a belt or cord. Lantz said the girl told police she was hit with a cord, and Robinson told police she used a belt.

Robinson told the girl to take off her clothes to receive her “punishment,” Lantz said.

Robinson told Sertick she has no job because she just had a baby and is on maternity leave. Lantz said Robinson has been convicted of theft in the past and also is on probation through federal court for food-stamp fraud. She has four minor children in her home. If she makes bond, she is allowed no contact with the victim.
