Edwardses celebrate 60th anniversary
GIRARD
Mr. and Mrs. James Edwards celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary surrounded by family and friends at a gathering recently at Cortland Skating Rink. The observance was hosted by their skating friends and Jim and Ruth DiGiacobbe.
The couple’s four children are Bonnie (John) Bartholic, Leesburg, Va.; Bobbie (Dave) Wissinger, James Edwards and John (Andrea) Edwards, all of Colorado Springs, Colo. The couple also have five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Edwards married the former Beverly Wilson on Jan. 17, 1958, at the Mineral Ridge Church of Christ.
Mrs. Edwards was a nurse’s aide for Shepherd of the Valley in Niles until retiring in 1998. She is a member of the Girard Historical Society and Greenford Christian Church.
Mr. Edwards served three years in the U.S. Army Security Agency and was a quality-control inspector for McDonald Welding & Machinery Co. for 33 years until he retired in 1998. He is a member of Girard Historical Society and Girard United Methodist Church. He volunteered for 17 years with the Trumbull Metropolitan Authority.
The couple enjoy traveling across the 48 contiguous states, visiting their children and various skating rinks along the way.
