ASSOCIATIONS

Tri-Gold Prime Time Chapter of ABWA will have its monthly meeting Wednesday at A La Cart Catering in Canfield. A social will take place at 1:15 p.m., and lunch will follow at 1:30. The menu includes egg salad, ham and cheese croissants, cream of broccoli or chicken noodle soup, salad, coffee and tea. Dessert will be cherries in the snow. Cost is $15. Nomination letters for Woman of the Year will be accepted at the meeting. Basket auction for April has been postponed to September. Items for the auction will be accepted at all meetings. Trumbull County Retired Teachers Association will meet at noon Tuesday at Ciminero’s Banquet Centre, 123 N. Main St., Niles. The speaker will be WFMJ television personality Madonna Chism Pinkard. The community service committee will be collecting coloring books, crayons and story books for Akron Children’s Hospital of the Mahoning Valley. CLASSES

Hubbard High School Class of 1961 will host its 75th birthday party Aug. 17 and 18, with a social to begin at 6 p.m. Aug. 17 at the New Manhattan, 7262 Hubbard Masury Road. CLUBS

Boardman Library Chess Club will meet from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Boardman Public Library, 7680 Glenwood Ave. Anyone interested can come and learn, improve or just play. The club meets the first Sunday of each month beginning March 4.

Mahoning Valley Chapter of Polka Dot Powerhouse will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Blue Wolf Tavern, 1295 Boardman-Canfield Road, Boardman. Women interested in business connections can attend the first meeting at no cost. Lunch options will be from a limited menu. COUNCILS

Youngstown Council of Catholic Nurses will attend the White Mass at 4 p.m. Feb. 17 at St. Columba Cathedral, 159 W. Rayen Ave. The White Mass celebrates and recognizes healthcare professionals. A reception will take place following in the Cathedral hall.

DANCES

Friendly Squares will host its monthly square dance from 7:30 to 10 p.m.Saturday at the Niles SCOPE Center, 14 E. State St., Niles. Gene Hammond will be the caller, and Frankie Hammond will be calling line dances. Valentines will be the theme for the dance. This will be a high/low dance with alternating tips for new dancers currently taking lessons and tips for more experienced dancers. Dress is casual, and light refreshments will be served. World War II Heritage Group will meet for a buffet dinner at 6:15 p.m. Feb. 19 at A La Cart Catering in Canfield. Howard Friend, local retired educator and administrator, will relate his experiences in the Battle of the Bulge. Reservations are due by Thursday to David Frank, 330-757-0515.

GUILDS

Youngstown Area Weavers Guild will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Colonial Inn on the Canfield Fairgrounds. The workshop is bow weaving and will be demonstrated by Tracy Jackson. Materials will be supplied, but anyone who has size 5 pearl cotton and size 6 beads can take them. Beverages will be furnished, take a mug and a lunch. Show and tell will take place. Trumbull County Republican Party will host its monthly breakfast gathering at the Buckeye Club, 366 N. Park, Warren, at 9 a.m. Feb. 17. There will be a full-course buffet breakfast. Poland Historical Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 20 at the Little Red Schoolhouse, 4515 Center Road. The program to follow at 7:30 p.m. will feature local historian Thomas G. Welsh, Ph.D., and co-author of “The Classic Restaurants of Youngstown.” Welsh’s presentation will be a walk down memory lane about famous Youngstown restaurants. He will have copies of the book available for sale. The 2018 membership drive is currently underway. Renewal and new membership dues are $10 per person. SUPPORT GROUPS

Codependency and Grief Support Group will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the care center of the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home, North Main St., Hubbard. The support group was formed to reach out to help families who have lost loved ones to alcohol or substance abuse.

Crossroads Hospice Charitable Foundation is sponsoring a grief support group to help people move beyond the pain of any loss and achieve healing. Each meeting is facilitated by certified grief recovery specialists and is free of charge. The meetings take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursdays through Feb. 22 at Touch Heaven Church, 10 Skyline Drive, Canfield. For information or to register, call 330-899-9100. Good Hope Lutheran Church, 98 Homestead Drive, Boardman, will host a 13-week grief support series through the GriefShare ministry from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays through May 1. The GriefShare team provides a safe, understanding place for individuals to move through their personal grief journeys. Participants need not be church members. Each session is self-contained, so participants may enter at any session. Each session will include videos featuring some of the nation’s foremost experts on grief recovery. Sessions also include small group support and a workbook for personal study. Participants are welcome to share stories, but are never forced. Attendance at consecutive sessions is encouraged for maximum benefit. Cost is $20. Checks should be made payable to Good Hope. Scholarships also are available at registration. NAMI Mahoning Valley offers support groups for those who deal with mental illness. Support groups meet as follows: Girard Family Support, first Thursday of each month at 11 a.m. at the Girard Library, 105 E.
