Stolen purse is found YOUNGSTOWN

Police followed footprints in the snow early Tuesday and recovered a purse that was taken at gunpoint from a woman’s car on South Portland Avenue.

Officers were called to the West Side home about 5:50 a.m., where the woman told them she was getting out of her car when a man tapped her on the back, pointed a gun at her and grabbed the purse from the car before walking away.

Officers traced the footprints to a garage on South Lakeview Avenue, where they found the purse inside. They searched inside the home where the garage was with consent from the homeowner but found no evidence anyone inside was involved in the robbery, reports said. Reports said $180 cash was missing from the purse.
