Drawl appeals decision

WARREN

Deborah Drawl, who was removed as Mecca Township fiscal officer last week through a civil action in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court, has appealed the decision.

On Feb. 1, Judge Andrew Logan ruled that Drawl was unwilling to accept training from other area fiscal officers.

He also said she was unable to remedy the unauditable status of the township’s financial records a year after the problem was first noted by a private auditing company that attempted to conduct the township’s 2016 financial audit.

Her attorney, Michael Rossi, filed a notice with the 11th District Court of Appeals the same day, saying Drawl challenges “whether there was any evidence that the fiscal officer ‘knowingly refused’ to keep her accounts or make her reports, sufficient to remove her from office under [Ohio law].”

The Mecca Township trustees appointed former fiscal officer Jennifer Mancini on Friday to replace Drawl.
